Siem Reap authorities tend to open a viewing tower to provide for tourists a panoramic view of Tonle Sap Lake, ancient temples and the surroundings.
The project had already been approved by Cambodian government, but Siem Reap looks forward to a foreign investment for the plan.
Apart from the role as an observation location, the tower’s also expected to be a new attraction for international tourists in the following time.
The cost as well as the certain date of construction have not been revealed yet, but it can be started sometime in 2017 in case a foreign investor had been found.
However, a few people seem not to agree with the idea. They are afraid that the authority will create a disaster that will become an eyesore instead of a valuable structure for the heritage city.
In 2016, Siem Reap greeted nearly 2 million international visitors.
