Located from Hoian 3 km to the west, by the romantic Thu Bon River, Thanh Ha Pottery Village has experienced nearly 500 years, is famous for durable products.
In 1516, the pottery formed at Thanh Chiem Village, then moved to Nam Dieu Village (Thanh Ha today). The heyday is the years of 17-18 century, along with the development of Hoian port town; Thanh Ha Pottery was more and more famous.
Later, through a lot of upheavals of history, Thanh Ha Pottery Village was almost forgotten. However, with the enthusiasm of some artists who stick the life into earth, fire and pottery, Thanh Ha Pottery was gradually restored.
Especially, since UNESCO recognized the ancient town of Hoian as a World Cultural Heritage, Thanh Ha Pottery Village has become a destination attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.
Visiting the village, besides free to select of ceramic souvenirs, tourists also have the opportunity to witness the skilled manipulation of talented hands of artisans. Through the hands of well-qualified workers with a high skill, the senseless clay tablets suddenly transform into wonderful works.
