Day 2: The Golden Triangle—Huay Xay and Pak Tha (B,L,D)
This morning begins with your final breakfast on Thai soil, marking the start of your adventure as you cross the Lao/Thai Friendship Bridge into Laos. Your journey continues with a visit to the bustling border town of Huay Xay, a vibrant trade hub in Bokeo province, where “Bokeo” means “sapphire,” reflecting the region’s rich heritage.
After this visit, your grand voyage on the mighty Mekong River begins. You’ll be captivated by the stunning landscapes of northern Laos—lush greenery, misty mountains, and peaceful riverside villages. We’ll head toward Pak Tha, an important estuary of the Mekong, where we will anchor for the night, surrounded by the tranquillity of this beautiful region.

Day 3: Astonishing Landscapes and Remote Villages (B,L,D)
The river traffic increases as you pass through a densely populated region accessible only by water. Here you discover some of the wild Mekong’s most beautiful landscapes: hills covered with tropical vegetation, dramatic rock formations, and a fascinating mixture of rapid currents and slow rivulets. The power of the mighty Mekong gives your cruise the feeling of a real expedition. Relax on deck, in your cabin, or in the lounge as you enjoy the otherworldly atmosphere of these spectacular surroundings. A short while later you arrive in Oudomxay Province.

Day 4: Pak Ou Caves (B,L,D)
After a peaceful morning, we arrive at a charming riverside village around midday. Here, we explore the legendary Pak Ou Caves, home to thousands of small Buddha statues lovingly placed by pilgrims over the centuries. From this sacred site, you can choose to embark on a jungle trek through lush greenery, leading to the local village of Ban Muang Keo. If you prefer a more relaxed pace, a short boat ride will take you to the village.
There, you’ll have the chance to witness the ancient art of distilling Lao-Lao, the local rice whiskey of Laos, guided by Miss Somechan Khonpachith, who has dedicated her life to mastering this craft. She will reveal the secrets of this traditional technique and invite you to a tasting.
As the day comes to an end, our ship remains anchored, surrounded by majestic limestone mountains that provide a picturesque backdrop for your evening.

Day 5: The UNESCO World Heritage City of Luang Prabang (B,L)
Today, you will arrive in the city of Luang Prabang, the former royal capital of Laos and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your exploration begins with a guided walk through the city, leading you to the Wat Xieng Thong Temple, the most renowned temple in the city, a masterpiece of Lao architecture. As evening falls, you’ll ascend Mount Phou-Si, where breathtaking panoramic views of the Mekong and Khan rivers await you. Afterward, you can take a leisurely stroll along the peaceful Mekong promenade or enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the colorful Hmong Night Market. Luang Prabang offers a variety of culinary delights. Dine at one of the charming riverside eater-ies or one of the many fine restaurants.

Day 6: The Royal Capital, Luang Prabang (B,L,D)
In the early morning you can visit or attend the Tak Bat – a traditional giving of alms in the streets of Luang Prabang, where dozens of orange robed monks and novices walk through the streets and alleys of Luang Prabang’s old town. Afterward, your guide will lead you through the bustling local morning market, where the air is rich with the fragrant aromas of exotic spices, locally grown teas, and freshly brewed Lao coffee.
Following your breakfast on board, you’ll embark on the second half of your city tour. This time, you’ll explore the fascinating history of the National Museum of Luang Prabang, housed in the stately former royal palace. Later, visit a charming local handicraft village where the vibrant artistry of Laos comes to life.
As the day unfolds, you’ll have the afternoon to enjoy at your own pace, with plenty of opportunities to discover the city. Before dinner, return to the sundeck for a traditional Lao dance performance and participate in a heartfelt Baci well-wishing ceremony.

Day 7: Kuang Si Falls (B,L,D)
As you enjoy breakfast on board, the stunning views of Luang Prabang drift by. By late morning, we arrive at the village of Ban Muang Khai, where you’ll take a tuk-tuk on a guided trip to the famous Kuang Si Waterfalls. These vibrant turquoise waterfalls cascade over several tiers, forming natural pools perfect for a refreshing dip.
Right next to the waterfalls is the heartwarming “Free the Bears” rescue center, dedicated to protecting and conserving the endangered sun and moon bears (Malayan and Tibetan bears) throughout Southeast Asia. Here, we’ll learn more about the incredible efforts to rehabilitate these gentle creatures.
In the afternoon, don’t miss the impressive Xayaburi Dam, the largest hydroelectric power plant in Laos—a technical marvel that supplies much of the country’s energy. In the evening, your cruise ship anchors at a peaceful sandy beach, where you’ll enjoy a tranquil night.

Day 8: The Farming Village of Ban Don Saingam (B,L,D)
Today, our journey takes us to the charming village of Ban Don Saingam, nestled between the lush hills along the Mekong River. Upon arrival, we’ll embark on a scenic 30-minute walk—or, depending on the season, a local tractor ride—toward a nearly forgotten cave. Equipped with torches, we’ll explore the cave’s hidden depths and uncover its mysteries before returning to the comfort of our ship.
In the afternoon we continue cruising downstream, enjoying the stunning views and perhaps spotting local fishermen along the shore. Later, your Cruise Director will share fascinating presentations about the rich history and vibrant culture of Laos.
In the evening, we’ll make an early stop to prepare for our renowned Mekong River Cruises barbecue, set in a picturesque riverside location.

After breakfast, embark on a journey to one of the local hill tribe villages in the Pak Tha area, where you’ll have the chance to experience their unique way of life. Following your visit, return to the ship for the final leg of your river cruise, soaking in the stunning landscapes as you sail toward the Thailand–Laos border. The journey concludes in the bustling border town of Huay Xay, a vibrant trade hub in Bokeo province, where ‘Bokeo’ means ‘sapphire,’ reflecting the region’s rich heritage. After breakfast, say your goodbyes to the Laotian crew as you complete the checkout process and disembark from your boutique ship in Chiang Khong. From there, you’ll be transported to the legendary Golden Triangle region, once infamous but now steeped in intrigue and history. During your guided tour, you’ll visit the majestic Golden Buddha of Sop Ruak and explore the captivating Hall of Opium, a museum with royal ties that offers a profound exploration of the opium trade’s complex history and its impact on health.
